AJPM now offers custom minting! Medallions can be made in .999 fine Gold, .999 Silver, or the less expensive option of .999 Copper. The process is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Step 1. Concept/Design: If your idea or vision for your medallion is not camera ready or suitable for die cutting, we can provide artwork for you. Two Dimensional art charges are a flat rate of $100 and three Dimensional are $125 to $175 per side. Price ultimately depends on the complexity of your design. Portraits can be more expensive.

Step 2. Die Cutting: We use A2 and D2 steel for die engraving. Typical charges for a 2 Dimensional die would be in the range of $350 to $500 per side and a 3 Dimensional die would be in the range of $500 to $700 per side. We do have stock dies available so it is possible to make a medallion by just cutting one die.

Step 3. Coining: We offer two different surface levels on silver medallions. The first is a satin finish and the second is a Proof-like mirror surface. Once your dies are cut, the satin finish one ounce custom medallion is about the same cost as a one ounce American Silver Eagle and the Proof-like would be approximately $5 additional per medallion or more depending on frosting, sandblasting, and polishing requirements. Gold and Copper medallions will come in a Proof-like mirror finish.

Turn around time for most projects is less than 30 days from the time artwork is approved. Below you will find examples of medallions that we have struck as well as a list of some of the companies we have worked with.

Through our company (The Portland Minting Company), we held the first NBA license ever granted to allow production of all team logos and player medallions. During that time, our products depicted Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Julius "Dr. J" Irving, Charles Barkley, David Robinson, Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, and the only starting five of any NBA team ever done that included Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Buck Williams, Kevin Duckworth, and Jerome Kersey. On June 23, 1988, a coin we produced was used for the coin-toss between the Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat to see who got a higher draft selection that year. Charlotte won the flip.

Aside from the NBA, our list of clients also includes, but is not limited to, The United States Army, The United States Air Force, The United States Marines, Portland General Electric, Northwest Natural Gas, Franz Bread, OMSI, Les Schwab Tires, The Portland Rose Festival, Tom Peterson, The City of Bandon Oregon, Mayor Bud Clark, The World Wrestling Federation, The country western band Alabama, The PGA (100th Anniversary), Fred Meyer, The Oregon Symphony Women's Association, The City of Ashland, The Pendleton Roundup, The NFL Alumni, and lots more!
